I have been asked my many customers about replacing their 03001 or 04001 plastic chassis with an aluminium chassis. The good news is it can be done with little modification and a customer of myRC, Steve Dalziel, has kindly provided photos of his modified 94107 buggy with aluminium chassis.
If you have a 94103 car then you require the 02001 chassis.
If you have a 94107 buggy OR 94111 truck then you require the 06001 chassis.
All of the holes align, however you need to drill a couple of extra holes to support the brushless motor bracket. These can be seen in the photos 4 and 5 of the underneath photos. If you look to the very right of the blue brushless motor you will see the new drill holes and silver screws used. Note the are 4 holes all up and 3 were required to be drilled. Also you can see that where the standard Nitro motor use to go, a cut-out was made to fit this particular brushless motor.
The cuts were made using a hack saw blade (an aluminium specific blade). You can get a start as there is an existing cut-out in the nitro chassis and continue towards the motor mount. Just takes a little time and patience. A couple of cuts are required to square off the final cut at the motor mount end.
